Bobby Bales is an artist from the Taos Pueblo located in northern New Mexico. Drum making is a very old art form for the Taos Pueblo people. Bobby learned this art from working along side of his uncle Frank Mirabal who is a third generation drum maker. Still carrying on this tradition he is one of the younger drum makers at Taos Pueblo . Bobby has participated in many top native american art shows across the United States including The Eiteljorg Museum Indian Market , The Autry National Center Of The American West Intertribal Arts Market , Arizona State Museum Southewest Indian art Fair , Pueblo Grande Museum Indian Market and The Red Earth Festival just to name a few." Making drums is very hard work but it is something that I really enjoy and have much respect for, I am very proud and grateful to have learned this skill and hope to carry this tradition on for as long as I am able."
